Visiting Simpsonville

Simpsonville is increasingly a culturally diverse community, yet it proudly retains positive elements of its Southern American heritage manifested in hospitality, cordiality, and a pleasantly slower pace. Most often, folks greet one another just passing on the sidewalks and those acquainted inquire about family and friends.

Family and generational ties run deep, but newcomers are always welcome. Simpsonville is at the crossroads of the New South, proud of its traditions yet eager to embrace the future. Vitality and opportunity are attracting people from afar to Simpsonville. We are proud of the international sub-groups represented in Simpsonville's culture, including Mexicans, Colombians, Nicaraguans, Greeks, Indians, French, Germans, Asians and others.

Religion is an important part of life in Simpsonville. More than 45 churches are located in the Simpsonville area and, with nearby Greenville included virtually all religions and denominations are present. Some of the larger denominations are Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, Episcopal, Church of God of Prophecy, Lutheran, Church of the Nazarene, and Eckankor.

Many people in the area are active in some of the multitude of civic clubs and other organization, such as Kiwanis, Rotary International, American Legion, garden clubs, senior citizens clubs, high school booster clubs, PTAs, Boy and Girl Scouts, and many others. Opportunities abound for people to become engaged in their interests and to make a difference in community life.

Simpsonville benefits from diverse employment and business opportunities combined with small town ambience and unique character yet enjoys access to all the amenities associated with a larger metropolitan area like Greenville. Some of the area wide attractions include the Greenville Braves Class AA baseball team, the Peace Center for the Performing Arts, the Bi-Lo Center, and the Andrew Wyeth/Weyth collection of the Greenville Museum of Art. Simpsonville leaders are now actively engaged in making sure that this beneficial mix remains in balance.
